Melanie Holmes searched across Illinois for “hot spots” in the arts, entertainment, food, parks, culture, history, sports, and even geology. Based on the book from Reedy Press’ nationwide line, Holmes shares tips for day jaunts, weekend trips, and weeklong excursions — all just a road trip away, and many are free. Holmes will also present a segment she calls “Windshield Travel,” for those who have physical challenges.
Short bio — Melanie Holmes is a lifelong Illinoisan and travel enthusiast. She has written five nonfiction books, including The Female Assumption and Manteno/Images of America (both are on the shelf at Peotone Library); and A Hero on Mount St Helens (University of Illinois Press).
