The Peotone Village Board on Monday, August 25, 2025, welcomed a new service-oriented business to the community, officially approving the registration for Children’s Advocate LLC.

The business, which will operate out of the former dentist’s office at 211 Second Street, provides behavioral health services, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, play therapy, and other support for children and families.

Owner Renee Jackson-Hill addressed the board, sharing the story of how her passion for working with “diverse learners” grew from helping a single client into a state-recognized provider with offices in Matteson. A state requirement to operate from a “brick and mortar” location rather than providing in-home services led to her expansion.

“It’s just my passion. It’s just something I’ve always done. My heart goes out to them,” Jackson-Hill said. She explained that a chance drive through Peotone with her grandson led her to discover the “cute” building that will become her new office.

Jackson-Hill, who is also a graduate-level professor at the University of St. Francis, said her agency serves children of all ages and from all backgrounds, including at-risk youth and families with private insurance. She noted she already has an intern and a client family from the Peotone area.

“Hope this don’t offend anybody, I said this is where God lost his sandals and I want to be out here,” she joked about the village’s appeal. “This is just a wonderful place out here.”
