Village Administrator Nick Palmer reported that after receiving only one bidder for the work in 2024, the administration released a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) this year and received three quotes.

“The low bidder, which was responsive and was very professionally done, is 33% less than last year’s bid,” Palmer said. “I think competitive bidding is a good thing… I think we’re getting a good product at a better price.”

The work will cover about 15,000 linear feet of roadway, including Hummingbird Lane (from Gull View to Merganser), North Street (from Railroad to IL 50), Wilson Street (from Railroad to 4th), and Corning Avenue (from Rathje to IL 50). The cost was included in the village’s budget.
