Peotone Village Board Meeting | September 8, 2025

The Peotone Village Board on Monday, September 8, 2025, received a positive annual audit report that nevertheless highlighted several areas for financial improvement. The board also moved forward on infrastructure maintenance by approving a road crack sealing contract at a significant cost savings over last year and handled routine business, including approving a new liquor license and multiple community event permits. Old Mill Fall Fest Details Announced
Ed Nelson, President of the Peotone Historical Society, addressed the board to promote the upcoming Old Mill Fall Fest. A new Saturday evening event on September 20 from 4-9 p.m. will feature live music from the band Rockaholics, craft beer, and food. The traditional festival will take place on Sunday, September 21, with reenactors, vendors, and food. The society is seeking volunteers for cleanup on the prior Saturday and donations for its bake sale.

Fall Community Events Approved
The board approved its consent agenda, which included official Trick-or-Treat hours for Halloween on Friday, October 31, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The board also greenlit permits for several upcoming community events: the Peotone High School Student Council Golf Cart Parade on September 27, the Peotone High School Homecoming Parade on October 10, and a “Trunk or Treat” event hosted by Cornerstone Coffee House and Chambers & Sons Plumbing on October 26, which will include road closures on First Street.

American Legion Ladies Auxiliary to Celebrate Centennial
Mayor Chris Vieaux announced that the Peotone American Legion Ladies Auxiliary will celebrate its 100th anniversary on Friday, September 12. State Representative Jackie Haas is scheduled to be in attendance to present the organization with a proclamation in honor of the milestone.

Road Project Updates
Village Engineer Troy Golem reported that striping has been completed on Crawford Street, with only sod installation remaining for that project and the Conrad Street storm sewer project. Public Works staff indicated the sodding might be postponed until the following week to wait for cooler temperatures, which are better for new sod.
