The Peotone Township Board held a brief, routine meeting on Monday, September 15, 2025, addressing financial oversight and receiving departmental updates. The board unanimously approved all financial reports and bill payments presented. Key new business included the formal acceptance of the township’s Annual Financial Report for Fiscal Year 2025, which has been submitted to the State of Illinois, and the receipt of a completed formal audit for the same period for board review. There were no visitors in attendance and no business was discussed under Planning and Zoning. The meeting adjourned after 30 minutes.
Financial Reports and Bills Unanimously Approved
The board conducted its monthly financial duties, unanimously approving a series of reports and bill payments. In separate 4-0 votes, trustees accepted the Town Fund Budget Report, the Road District Funds Budget Report, and the Financial Summary Report. The board also unanimously approved the payment of bills from the Town Fund, the Road & Bridge, Hard Road and Equipment Funds, and the Building and Equipment Funds. Supervisor Gene Younker and Trustees Ron Schubbe, Randy Swartz, and Grant Heatherwick voted “yes” on all motions. Trustee James Morgan was absent.
Annual Financial Report and Audit Submitted
The board officially accepted the township’s Annual Financial Report (AFR) for Fiscal Year 2025, covering the period from April 2024 to March 2025. The report had already been completed and submitted to the State of Illinois. Additionally, the board received the completed formal audit for FY2025, conducted by GW & Associates, which was submitted for review.
Assessor Processing Appeals, Road Crew Finishing Chipping
Department heads provided brief updates on their ongoing work. Assessor Virginia Gates-Hamann reported that her office is currently processing property assessment appeals and continuing to update records. Road Commissioner John Hack reported that his crews are finishing up road chipping work within the township.
Township Receives Correspondence on IDOT Studies, Peotone TIF
The board acknowledged receipt of several pieces of correspondence that required no action. These included notices of an IDOT study for Route 50 and County Line Road, an IDOT study concerning I-57, and notes from an August 21 Will County Paratransit meeting. The township also received notice from the Village of Peotone regarding its September 8 meeting about updating the TIF 2024 situation.
