Peotone Township Meeting | Jan. 20, 2026

The Peotone Township Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. to conduct regular monthly business. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Gene Younker. Trustees James Morgan, Randy Swartz, and Grant Heatherwick were present. Trustee Ron Schubbe was absent.

The Board voted unanimously to approve the minutes of the December 15, 2025, meeting. Routine financial reports and bill payments were also approved unanimously by roll call vote.

Assessor Reports Positive Appeal Results
Assessor Virginia Gates-Hamann reported that she is continuing the process of measuring properties and updating property records. She also noted that the results from recent tax appeals have been returned, characterizing them as “very good results” for the Township.

Road District Maintenance
Road Commissioner John Hack submitted his monthly report to the Board. He indicated that the department is currently focused on equipment maintenance during the winter season.

Financial Reports Approved
The Board unanimously approved several financial items, including the Town Fund Budget Report, the Road District Funds Budget Report, and the overall Financial Summary Report. Motions to pay bills for the Town Fund, Road & Bridge Fund, Hard Road Fund, and Equipment Funds were also passed without dissent.

Correspondence Received
The Board received several pieces of correspondence, including the TOIRMA Annual Renewal application and information regarding the Will County battery recycling program. Additionally, the Board was notified that Chris Russel is using the monthly meeting notes to post local news at peotonelocal.com.

The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m. following a motion by Trustee Swartz, which was seconded by Trustee Morgan.
