Village Board Approves Rosati’s Pizza and Indian Restaurant Concept
By Andrea Arens
The Peotone Village Board approved a new business registration for SRM PTON LLC, which will operate a Rosati’s Pizza Express and an Mela Indian restaurant at 601 S. 88th Avenue inside the Peotone Travel Center.
The concept, presented by franchisee Suhas Patel, will feature a Rosati’s Express location offering approximately 70 percent of the chain’s standard menu, paired with a limited Indian food menu that includes items such as chicken tikka masala and curry dishes. The two operations will share the same kitchen space but maintain separate equipment and utensils.
Mayor Chris Vieaux raised questions about food preparation and potential odor issues given the combination of cuisines.
Mayor Chris Vieaux specifically addressed concerns about food odors, noting the importance of keeping the smells from each concept from overlapping.
“They both have different smells,” Vieaux said, asking how the business planned to keep them from combining in the shared space.
Patel responded that the kitchen setup was designed to keep the two food operations completely separate despite sharing the facility. Patel explained that the operations would remain distinct, with separate ovens, steamers, and utensils to avoid cross-contamination.
Following discussion, the board unanimously approved the business registration. Trustees welcomed the business to the village.
