Annual Township Meeting Set
The Peotone Township Annual Meeting was scheduled for April 8. Clerk Kent Heisner informed the board that public notices for the meeting would be posted and published in The Vedette newspaper on March 24. The annual meeting provides a forum for residents to hear yearly reports from township officials and vote on certain township matters directly. The board unanimously approved the meeting’s proposed agenda.

Solar Farm Correspondence Received
The board acknowledged receiving a letter from Fire Chief Bruce Boyle concerning variances for solar farms. The correspondence indicates ongoing discussions among local officials about managing potential solar energy development. The letter arrived as the township itself was in the process of considering its own “Guidelines for Solar Farms,” a topic that was ultimately tabled for further review at the board’s April meeting.

2025-2026 Meeting Calendar Approved
The board has officially set its schedule of regular meetings for the upcoming fiscal year, from April 2025 through March 2026. The calendar was presented by Supervisor Gene Younker and approved unanimously. Adopting the schedule in advance provides residents with a clear and predictable calendar of public meetings for the entire year, ensuring transparency and opportunities for public participation.

Assessor’s Office Continues Field Work
Assessor Virginia Gates-Hamann reported that her office is continuing its work updating property records throughout the township. Field staff will be working to confirm the accuracy of property measurements, a critical step in the assessment process. Road Commissioner John Hack also gave a brief report, stating his department was actively hauling stone as part of routine road maintenance.
