Supervisor Gene Younker confirmed the budgets are being finalized in preparation for the public presentation.

Annual Donations Plan Approved
The township’s 2025-2026 Donations Plan was unanimously adopted by the board. The plan, which outlines scheduled charitable contributions to community organizations, was approved following a motion by Trustee James Morgan and a second by Trustee Randy Swartz. This action is a regular part of the township’s annual budgeting process and formalizes its support for various local groups and causes for the next fiscal year.

Township Receives Insurance Dividend
Peotone Township has received a dividend check for $1,662 from its insurance provider, the Township Officials of Illinois Risk Management Association (TOIRMA). The board acknowledged the receipt of the check as part of its regular correspondence. Dividends are typically returned to TOIRMA members when collective insurance claims are lower than anticipated, reflecting a successful year of risk management among participating townships.

Assessor Continues Field Work
Assessor Virginia Gates-Hamann reported that her office is proceeding with routine fieldwork. The work includes measuring and updating equalization lots to ensure fair and accurate property assessments. In her report to the board, Gates-Hamann stated she is also finalizing assessment updates for properties located in the unincorporated areas of Peotone Township. This work is essential to the local property tax cycle.

General Assistance Rules Adopted
Supervisor Gene Younker announced that he has adopted the State of Illinois’s official Rules of General Assistance Handbook for fiscal year 2025-26. This administrative measure ensures the township’s procedures for providing aid to residents in need are aligned with current state law and policy. The handbook governs how the township manages its general assistance programs.
