Behind a spectacular 16-strikeout pitching performance from senior S. Klawitter and a crucial home run from freshman Mary Klawitter, the Peotone varsity softball team secured a hard-fought 3-1 non-conference road victory over Grant Park on Friday afternoon.

The matchup was defined by dominant pitching from both sides, but Peotone (25-26) managed to strike first. The visitors pushed a run across the plate in the top of the first inning to take an early 1-0 advantage. Grant Park (25-26) starter Cheyenne Hayes quickly settled in, trading zeros with S. Klawitter through the next two frames to keep the contest tight.

Junior Reegan Thompson paced the hosts offensively with a 2-for-4 performance, and freshman Delaney Heldt added a triple. However, S. Klawitter slammed the door shut, securing the final outs to preserve the 3-1 victory.
