Herscher Offense Explodes in 16-6 Win Over Peotone
The Peotone varsity baseball team faced a tough challenge on Wednesday, ultimately falling to Herscher in a 16-6 home conference loss.
Herscher’s offense proved difficult to contain throughout the afternoon, tallying 14 hits and scoring in four of the five innings played. The visitors broke the game open early with a three-run first inning, followed by a commanding nine-run second inning that shifted the momentum firmly in their favor.
Despite the deficit, Peotone’s lineup showed flashes of production, recording eight hits and scoring six runs. Tyler Leitelt led the effort for the Blue Devils with a pair of doubles and three RBIs, while teammates Kayden Derkacy and Alex Chenoweth provided energy on the basepaths, combining for three stolen bases.
While Peotone managed to plate four runs in the second and added single runs in the first and fifth, they were unable to keep pace with the high-scoring Herscher attack.
